SCI Members: Did You Leave Your Elephant In Tanzania in 2014?

USFWS elephant import banAs most of you are already aware, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service ended the importation of sport-hunted elephants from Tanzania on April 4, 2014.  SCI has sued the FWS to challenge that ban on importation.

Because the FWS ended importation from Tanzania so abruptly, many SCI members had already made plans to hunt elephants there in 2014.  Some could not cancel their hunts and traveled to Tanzania despite the ban, in the hope that they would someday be able to import their successfully hunted elephants.  We would like to hear from those SCI members.

Did you successfully hunt an elephant in Tanzania in 2014, but left your elephant there, in storage, because of the importation ban (or do you know someone else who did)?  If so, we would like to talk to you about your experience, the arrangements you made, and the costs you are incurring.  Please share your information by contacting Anna Seidman, Director of Litigation, aseidman@safariclub.org.
