CapitolbldgDCfirstforhunters060914SCI Members, your help is currently needed! Being “First for Hunters,” we need to reach out to all hunters across the nation, not just SCI members, to ask them to contact their Senators to fight back against the anti-hunting agenda in Washington, D.C.

Critical federal legislation now pending before the U.S. Senate needs to pass to ensure hunting and conservation are guaranteed for the next generation. Please contact your U.S. Senators and ask their support for S. 2363 — the “Bipartisan Sportsmen’s Act of 2014.” Look up your senators at http://www.senate.gov/general/contact_information/senators_cfm.cfm. Remember that each state has two Senators and be sure to call both! The Senate needs to bring S. 2363 to the floor with bi-partisan support immediately. Ask both your Senators to support S 2263 at each step in the process, and to vote in support of final passage!

S. 2363, the Bipartisan Sportsmen’s Act of 2014, is comprised of priority legislation for America’s hunters and conservationists. S. 2363 is very similar to H.R. 3590, which passed the House of Representatives with overwhelming bipartisan support on February 5, 2014.

Sportsmen and women contribute over $90 billion dollars to the U.S. economy annually. The bottom line is that hunting and fishing are good for business in America. S. 2363 would guarantee hunting, fishing, and shooting on the nearly 500 million acres of U.S. Forest Service and BLM lands. This is a permanent protection for the communities and businesses that depend on hunting and fishing based tourism.

About S. 2363:

  • Protects hunting, fishing, and target shooting opportunities on BLM and Forest Service lands.
  • Protects traditional hunting, shooting, and fishing equipment from regulation under the Toxic Substance Control Act (TSCA).
  • Dedicates a portion of ammunition and firearms excise taxes to the creation and maintenance of shooting ranges.
  • Allows for the one-time import of sport-hunted polar bears taken from approved Canadian populations in 2008.
  • Allows the Waterfowl Conservation Stamp (Duck Stamp) to be issued electronically.

Over 40 major hunting and conservation organizations, including SCI, already support S. 2363 — the Bipartisan Sportsmen’s Act of 2014. Now it is your turn to help enact this bill into law!

The time to ACT is now because the anti-hunting zealots are stepping up their attacks to stop S. 2363 — and stop hunting in America. Tell your Senators to support hunters by passing S. 2363!

Call your Senators TODAY and ask them to support S. 2363 the Bipartisan Sportsmen’s Act.
