SCI Litigation Team Attends North American Wildlife and Natural Resources Conference
SCI’s Litigation Team took advantage of the North American Wildlife and Natural Resources Conference (North American) to display SCI’s leadership role in wildlife and hunting litigation. We provided Litigation Update presentations at the Association of Fish and Wildlife Agencies Federal and Tribal Relations Committee, Threatened and Endangered Policy Committee, Sustainable Use Committee, and Legal Committee meetings. Our reprise of “Wildlife Law Jeopardy” (from SCI’s Continuing Legal Education Course) at the Legal Committee meeting was a huge hit and we have been asked to bring the game back for future Legal Committee meetings. The invitations the Litigation Team received to make these presentations demonstrates that SCI is recognized as a main source of information on ongoing litigation concerning wildlife and hunting.
One unexpected bonus was an impromptu conversation with a representative of Death Valley National Park. He sought us out to inform us that the Park Superintendent had appreciated SCI’s letter requesting that the National Park Service coordinate with Mojave National Preserve and California Department of Fish and Wildlife experts in dealing with water developments in Death Valley. The NPS representative explained that the NPS considered the recommendations of our letter to be reasonable and that they would be responding with a letter to us in the near future.
