SCI Keeps an Eye on California Wildlife Resources Committee
Safari Club International’s litigation staff recently submitted a public records request to the California Department of Fish and Wildlife regarding the state’s newly established Wildlife Resources Committee. In particular, SCI requested documents pertaining to the Committee’s formation, authority, and cooperation with certain public groups, such as the Humane Society of the United States. SCI also requested information regarding a new Predator Subcommittee that, with significant input from HSUS and Project Coyote, is developing a “Predatory Policy Review.” SCI believes it is unacceptable for the Committee to recommend changes in predator management policies without allowing more stakeholders, including hunters across the state, a chance to provide meaningful input throughout the process. Stay tuned for further updates.
